Reap Today's Harvest!

A few days ago, life took from us a beautiful girl only 10 years old. The only daughter of a friend, but as if she were my daughter.

21 years ago, on a day like today, May 25th, I lost my

elder sister in suspicious circumstances.

I have cried, I have given myself the right to be angry, I have not been afraid to ask hard questions like: why her? And why me, and why so young? And justice? And karma? What a good person she was?

She only dedicated herself to helping the sick, to singing with that angelic voice she had, to sharing with others her joy and laughter.  Why her? Why, why, why ?

I don't know who to be angry at. I don't know who to expect answers from.

The only thing that reaches me is silence.

And a resounding... Life owes you nothing! So  how am I to take this life ?

Then I understood the litany of life:

Life is a free gift, take it or leave it.

Life is like a seed, it depends on the soil and surrounding circumstances to flourish or wither .

Life at its source is shapeless but mouldable, it takes the form and shape you give to it.

Life is a tool box, you either use it or carry it as a load.

Life is everything in potency, what you make of it is what you get from it.

Life is a powerful engine, graduated to the infinite power, some have it at 5%, some  at 10% others at 50 % but it can be taken to 200+%.

It all depends on you: cultivate your garden, be your own artist and bring out your best self.

In life it is not always what you want but what you can. So, to that which depends on you, give it your best and that which doesn't depend on you , there's very little you can do about it, so, let it be and move on.

Life, remember, is not in debt with you and no one owes you your life. Others are a gift to be thankful for and not a right to claim.

Life is generous, so be generous too, be your brothers' keeper when you can. Take what comes with gratitude,  and what must  go, let it go with the same gratitude.

Listen to the music of Life, and flow with its rhythm, and cry if you must but not for too long, wipe your tears, live and let live.

Rise  from  your falls. Heal yourself of your wounds,

Go out there and savour life by  the moment, it's the only thing you have control over, the present moment.

With each passing day, I am convinced that this is what  Epicurus and later Horace in the  Odes meant by  " Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero "- "reap today's harvest, trust little in tomorrow".
